## ⚙️ Key Features

- 1.273 kg
- Supersedes 479874, listed earlier as a gudgeon pin
- 8 applications across six engine series
- Engine group

## 🔌 Function

Joins the piston to the connecting rod and carries the whole combustion load through to the rod's small end.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Piston knock when cold that quietens as the engine warms
- Pin scuffed, picked up or discoloured
- Pin loose in the piston bore or the small end bush
- Circlip groove damaged or the clip found displaced
- Bearing debris on the oil filter after a pin failure

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Piston pin 8194539 at 1.286 kg is only 13 grams heavier, so the two cannot be separated by weight - order by part number and engine
- Gudgeon pin is simply the older name for the same component, so an older parts list entry is not a different part
- Renew the small end bush and clips at the same time and check the pin bore in the piston
