## ⚙️ Key Features

- For specifications 867498 and 867499
- 2.169 kg
- 8 applications across MD and AQD series engines
- Alternative elbow 833998 covers specification 867500

## 🔌 Function

Carries exhaust gas away from the manifold and turns it towards the exhaust outlet, usually mixing cooling water into the gas stream on the way.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Sooty or rusty staining at the elbow flanges
- Exhaust fumes or noise inside the engine compartment
- Water in a cylinder or a hard-starting engine after standing, from a corroded water passage
- Heavy internal scaling narrowing the gas path
- Flange face pitted or eaten away around the studs

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Confirm the engine specification number before ordering - elbows in this family differ only by specification
- Renew the flange gaskets and check the studs, which usually corrode with the elbow
- Inspect the exhaust hose and its clamps at the same time, since a failed elbow lets water and gas into the compartment
