- 16.425 kg
- 9 applications across TMD, TD, TAMD and TAD engines
- Inlet and Exhaust System group

## 🔌 Function

Uses exhaust gas energy to drive a compressor that forces additional air into the inlet, raising the fuel the engine can burn and the power it makes.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Loss of power with heavy black smoke under load
- Whine or siren note that rises with boost
- Blue smoke and rising oil consumption
- Shaft with detectable radial or end play
- Compressor or turbine blades chipped, rubbed or bent

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Turbochargers 846241 at 23.558 kg, 846633 at 8.12 kg and 846889 at 8.3 kg are separate units for different engines, so order by part number
- Establish why the first unit failed before fitting a replacement, since a restricted oil drain or a dirty air filter will destroy the new one too
- Prime the bearing housing with clean oil and crank the engine before firing up
