## ⚙️ Key Features

- 4.804 kg
- 3 applications across TMD series engines
- Oil feed tube 861400 and drain tube 861408 listed alongside

## 🔌 Function

Uses exhaust gas energy to drive a compressor that forces extra air into the engine, raising the power it can make from a given size.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Whine, siren or rumble that rises and falls with the revs
- Blue smoke from the exhaust and rising oil consumption
- Loss of boost, black smoke and poor pick-up under load
- Shaft play felt at the compressor wheel, or blade tips rubbing the housing
- Oil in the inlet ducting or at the compressor outlet

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Renew the oil feed tube 861400 and check drain tube 861408 for restriction whenever the turbocharger is changed, since debris and a blocked drain are the two commonest causes of a repeat failure
- Prime the bearing housing with clean oil and crank without starting before the first run
- Find out why the old one failed, and check the air filter and inlet ducting for the debris that went through it
