## 🔌 Function

Shields the running belt, keeping hands, loose clothing and debris away from the drive.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Rattle or buzz from the front of the engine at certain speeds
- Rub marks or a polished witness line where the belt has touched the inside face
- Cracking around a mounting hole or a bend
- Guard sitting out of line or fouling the belt
- Fixings missing or working loose

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Refit the guard before running the engine, as an exposed belt drive is a hands and clothing hazard
- Check belt and pulley alignment if the guard shows rub marks, since the guard is not what is out of position
