## ⚙️ Key Features

- 7.829 kg
- 8 applications across TWD and TD series engines
- Inlet and Exhaust System group

## 🔌 Function

Uses exhaust gas to spin a turbine and a compressor wheel on a common shaft, forcing more air into the cylinders so the engine can burn more fuel for the same swept volume.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Blue or black smoke, particularly under load
- A whistle, siren or grinding note from the turbine that changes with boost
- Loss of boost, sluggish pick-up and poor top-end power
- Oil in the inlet pipework or standing in the charge air cooler
- Shaft play felt at the compressor wheel, or wheel tips rubbed on the housing

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Renew the oil feed and return pipes and prove both are clear before fitting
- Establish why the old unit failed - a starved, dirty or restricted oil supply will destroy the replacement in the same way
- Prime the bearing housing with clean oil and crank without starting before the first run
