# 88800314 Piston Ring Compressor | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

## 🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta piston ring compressor weighing 4.23 kg, listed in the Special Tools group, superseding 9998531. It is one of seven compressors in this run — 88800313, 88800314, 88800316, 88800317, 88800318, 88800319 and 88800831 — and their published weights all sit close together, so weight will not identify which bore a given compressor suits. Order by part number and by the tool list for your engine.

## ⚙️ Key Features

- 4.23 kg
- Supersedes 9998531
- One of seven compressors listed here — order by number, not by weight

## 🔌 Function

Squeezes the piston rings flush into their grooves so the piston can be pushed square into the bore without a ring catching.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Rings catching or breaking on entry to the bore
- Band or taper bore scored, stepped or worn
- Clamp not closing evenly all the way round the piston
- Compressor scuffing or marking the piston skirt
- Body distorted, so it no longer sits square on the block face

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Oil the rings and the compressor bore before entry, and stop and investigate if the piston does not push in with hand pressure
- An order placed against the older number 9998531 will bring this tool
