# 888006 Control Unit | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

## 🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta HCU control unit from the Ignition and Control Systems group, weighing 2.177 kg and listed for 13 applications across the D series. The software is not supplied with it — it is ordered separately or downloaded with Vodia — so the unit alone will not put a boat back in service.

## ⚙️ Key Features

- HCU
- Software ordered separately or downloaded with Vodia
- 2.177 kg
- 13 applications across the D series

## 🔌 Function

Runs the control logic for the system it governs, reading its inputs and driving its outputs to the programme held in its software.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- System dead or intermittent with no fault at the components it drives
- Fault codes stored against the unit itself
- Functions dropping out as the engine warms up or as the boat moves
- Connector pins corroded, green or pushed back in the housing
- Water marks, corrosion or a burnt smell inside the housing

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Budget for the software as a separate step — the unit is delivered without it and is programmed or downloaded with Vodia
- Check the supply, earth and connector pins before condemning the unit; corroded pins produce the same symptoms
- Record the settings from the old unit before it comes out, if it will still communicate
