# 88840317 Rotation tool | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

## 🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta 88840317, weighing 0.390 kg. Volvo Penta's own special tools catalogue designates it a rotation tool and gives the number it supersedes, 88800014, the same designation, so this is a like-for-like replacement rather than a change of tool. It is listed for the D8A1-A MP and twenty-eight TAD industrial engine designations, from TAD540VE and TAD550GE through to TAD853VE.

## ⚙️ Key Features

- Designated a rotation tool in Volvo Penta's special tools catalogue
- 0.390 kg
- Supersedes 88800014, which carries the same designation
- Listed for the D8A1-A MP and twenty-eight TAD industrial engine designations

## 🔌 Function

Connects a turning tool to the engine so the crankshaft can be barred round by hand during setting and checking work.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Drive faces rounded off, so the tool slips under load
- Threads or splines worn, crossed or stripped
- Cracks around the drive square or the body
- Bent or running out of true when fitted

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Supersedes 88800014, so the earlier number will no longer be supplied
- Turn the engine in its normal direction of rotation only, and never with the starter engaged while the tool is fitted
