# 88890074 Multimeter | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

## 🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta multimeter 88890074, weighing 1.873 kg. Volvo Penta's own special tools catalogue lists 223 products against it, spanning the D1, D2, D3 and D4 ranges, the D11, D12, D13 and D16 engines and Aquamatic, which is what you would expect of an instrument that is not tied to one engine. It supersedes 9812519, which earlier records list only under the generic name tool, so an old works list showing 9812519 is asking for this instrument.

## ⚙️ Key Features

- 1.873 kg
- 223 product designations, from the D1 range to the D16 engines and Aquamatic
- Supersedes 9812519, listed earlier only as a tool
- Workshop instrument rather than an engine-fitted part

## 🔌 Function

Measures voltage, current and resistance when fault-finding engine electrical circuits.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Will not zero, or drifts with the leads shorted together
- Display dim, flickering or with segments missing
- Test leads with broken continuity or cracked insulation
- Fuse blown on the current ranges
- Battery contacts corroded, so it dies under load

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Check the leads first - a broken lead reads exactly like a dead meter
- Have the instrument checked against a known reference before a reading is used to condemn a component
