# 9996876 Guide | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

## 🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta 9996876, weighing 0.172 kg. Volvo Penta's own special tools catalogue designates it a guide pin and lists exactly one product against it, the D8A1-A MP, which is the shortest product list of any tool here that carries one at all. Guide pin 88840281 covers the D8A1-A MP as well but adds twenty-one TAD industrial engines, so the two are not equivalents, and spacer 88840288 shares this pin's published weight of 0.172 kg while being a different tool again.

## ⚙️ Key Features

- Designated a guide pin in Volvo Penta's special tools catalogue
- 0.172 kg
- Listed against one product only, the D8A1-A MP
- Guide pin 88840281 covers the D8A1-A MP plus twenty-one TAD engines

## 🔌 Function

Holds the component on line as it enters, so it starts square and does not pick up on the bore or thread.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Guiding surface scored or worn, so the part no longer enters cleanly
- Bent, so the guide no longer holds the line
- Thread damaged at the fixing end
- Component starting off square despite the pin being fitted

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- A scored guide pin is usually what nicks a new seal or bush during fitting; check the tool before condemning the part
- The single-product listing makes this one specific, so confirm the number against the procedure
