It forms a thermal barrier between the hot turbocharger and exhaust surfaces and the rest of the installation, keeping radiated heat off the hoses, cables, fuel lines and belts routed nearby. The shield is formed for one specific location and must be matched to the engine and turbocharger arrangement.

🚤 Compatibility

HP Range: Approximately 750 HP

Year Range: Approximately 2000s–2010s

⚙️ Key Features

OEM Volvo Penta part number 20928485

Formed heat shield for the turbocharger and exhaust-manifold assembly

Shaped for one specific location - match to the engine and turbo configuration

Net weight 0.321 kg

Supersedes 20460167

🔌 Function

Shields the surrounding installation from radiated turbocharger and exhaust heat, protecting nearby hoses, cables, fuel lines and belts and reducing the fire and burn risk in the engine space.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

Shield cracked, split or distorted around its fixing points

Fixings loose, corroded or missing so the shield can move or rattle

Scorched, hardened or melted hoses, cables or insulation close to the exhaust

Shield touching a hose, cable or belt instead of standing clear of it

Insulation, spacers or standoffs missing so the shield sits on a hot surface

🛠️ Service Notes

Fit heat shields before anything else is routed near the exhaust, and check there is clear air space between the shield and every hose, cable, fuel line and belt

Renew any insulation, gaskets, spacers or standoffs supplied with the shield; a shield clamped flat onto a hot surface loses much of its effect

Tighten the fixings evenly and only to the figure in the workshop manual for your engine — the tabs and brackets are thin and distort easily

Never run the engine with a shield missing or loose: bare exhaust surfaces are a fire risk in an engine space and a burn risk to anyone working alongside

Check the shield and its fasteners whenever the exhaust is disturbed, as vibration works them loose and a rattling shield soon cracks at its mounting tabs

🔄 Supersession & Cross Reference

OEM Supersession Chain

20928485 → Supersedes 20460167

OEM / Related Numbers

20460167 earlier number superseded by this part

📦 Condition

Genuine Volvo Penta part

Brand new

Supplied in original or equivalent packaging

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0994/8115/7924/files/original_0eae042f-bb64-465f-9f1d-3ae2891dd0dd.png?v=1788056257
