Boat Detailing and Polishing
Vessel Detailing and Polishing
A clean, well-presented hull isn't just about looks — a good cut and polish removes oxidation and build-up that dulls gelcoat over time, and keeping on top of it makes the next clean easier as well. Sawley's Auto and Marine offers vessel cleaning and detailing, including a complete hull cut and polish.
What's Involved
- Washing down the hull, deck and fittings to remove salt, grime and marine residue
- Cutting back oxidised or dulled gelcoat to restore shine
- Polishing and, where appropriate, applying a protective finish
- Detailing interior surfaces, fittings and hardware
Why It's Worth Doing
Gelcoat oxidises over time when exposed to sun and salt air, leaving the hull looking chalky or dull. A cut and polish removes that oxidised layer and restores the surface, making the vessel easier to keep clean and helping protect its presentation and resale value.
Which Vessels Suit It
Detailing and polishing suits any fibreglass vessel showing signs of oxidation or general wear, whether it's a day-to-day fishing boat or a vessel being prepared for sale.
Where We Work
Detailing work can be carried out at our Kadina workshop or, for vessels already hauled out for other work, at Wallaroo Marina.
Keeping On Top of It
Regular washing and the occasional polish go a long way, but once oxidation sets in properly it takes a proper cut and polish to bring the shine back. Getting it done regularly makes each subsequent detail quicker and less involved.
What to Expect
Let us know the size of the vessel and its current condition when booking, so we can plan the work and have the right products on hand for your hull's gelcoat.
