Engine & Electronic Fault Finding

Engine and Electronic Fault Finding

An intermittent fault, a warning light, or an engine that just isn't running the way it used to can be one of the most frustrating problems to deal with. Sawley's Auto and Marine carries out fault tracing and diagnostics across marine and automotive engines and electronic systems, both on the road and out on the water.

What's Involved

  • Discussing the symptoms and when the fault occurs
  • Reading fault codes and reviewing available engine data
  • Testing wiring, sensors and connections for faults
  • Checking fuel, ignition, charging and cooling systems as relevant
  • Confirming the fault before recommending a repair

Fault finding is as much about ruling things out as finding the cause — a methodical process saves you paying for parts or repairs that were never the problem in the first place.

What We Work On

We diagnose faults on marine engines, drive units and onboard electronics — including dealer-level Evinrude E-TEC diagnostics — as well as automotive engines and vehicle electronics, across the range of makes and models we service.

Where We Work

Diagnostic work is carried out at our Kadina workshop.

Why It's Worth Getting Checked Early

A fault that's ignored rarely fixes itself, and an engine running with an underlying issue can suffer further damage the longer it's left. If something doesn't seem right — a noise, a warning light, rough running or a loss of power — it's worth having it looked at before a minor fault becomes a major repair.

What to Tell Us

The more detail you can give us when booking — when the fault happens, whether it's constant or intermittent, and any warning lights or codes you've noticed — the faster we can narrow down where to start looking.
