Trailer and Brake Repairs
Trailer and Brake Repairs
A trailer that isn't pulling up properly, or hasn't been checked over in a while, is one of the more overlooked safety risks around a boat or car. Sawley's Auto and Marine repairs boat and box trailers, with a particular focus on brake unit overhauls, hydraulic repairs and welding.
What's Involved
- Inspecting and overhauling mechanical and hydraulic brake units
- Repairing or replacing hydraulic lines, couplings and master cylinders
- Checking and repairing wiring, lights and electric brake components
- Welding repairs to chassis, frames, rollers and mounting points
- Bearing, hub and suspension checks
Trailer brakes take a hard life — regular dunking in salt water, combined with sitting unused between trips, is exactly the combination that causes corrosion and seized components. If your trailer feels like it's dragging, the brakes are grabbing unevenly, or something looks visibly worn or corroded, it's worth getting it checked.
Trailers We Work On
We repair boat trailers and box trailers of any size, whether the issue is with the brakes, the hydraulic system, the wiring or the chassis itself.
Where We Work
Trailer and brake repairs are carried out at our Kadina workshop.
Why It's Worth Checking Regularly
A trailer with worn or corroded brakes is a real risk on the road, particularly on a loaded trailer heading to or from the boat ramp. Regular checks catch corrosion and wear before they turn into a roadside breakdown or, worse, a safety issue while towing.
Getting It Checked
If you're not sure whether your trailer needs attention, a quick inspection can usually tell us whether it's a straightforward brake service or something more involved with the hydraulics or chassis. If the tow vehicle needs attention too, our automotive servicing and repairs covers that as well. We also fit and service standard trailer components such as couplings, jockey wheels and safety chains.
