🛠️ Service Notes

• A spacer washer sets a dimension as well as carrying load — keep or measure the original and refit the same thickness unless the workshop manual for your engine tells you to select a different one
• Refit spacers in the same order and the same positions they came from, and keep them with their own assembly while it is apart
• Check both faces for wear, dishing, burrs and fretting marks, and fit a new washer if the faces are no longer flat and parallel
• Make sure the seating faces are clean before assembly; grit or old sealant under a spacer changes the very clearance it is there to set
• Where the spacer sets an endfloat or a clearance, measure that clearance after assembly against the manual figure rather than assuming it
