🔧 Product Description

Dunbier Oil Seal 1.5" × 2.43" × 0.375" for Oversize Import Hubs - Part Number: 1704

A replacement single-piece hub oil seal for selected imported hubs and axles using the oversize seal journal. The elastomer sealing lip runs on the axle seal journal while the outer shell is pressed into the hub, retaining bearing grease and limiting entry of water and road contamination.

⚙️ Key Features

• Single-piece grease/oil seal

• Designed for trailer wheel-hub service

• Retains wheel-bearing lubricant

• Helps exclude water, dust and grit

• Replacement should accompany bearing or hub overhaul when the old seal is disturbed

📏 Specifications

• Shaft ID approximately 1.5in; housing OD approximately 2.43in; width approximately 0.375in

• Seal type: Press-fit single-piece radial lip seal

• Material and lip profile follow the supplied Dunbier specification

• Hub and spindle sealing surfaces must be smooth and correctly sized

🔄 Cross Reference & Related Parts

• Dunbier: 1704

• Measure the spindle journal and hub bore before purchase

• Not interchangeable with Dunbier LM or slimline seals by appearance alone

🚤 Trailer Compatibility & Application

• Suits selected imported hubs and axles using the oversize seal journal

• Confirm existing seal dimensions and axle family before installation

• A conventional seal is not interchangeable with a two-part marine seal unless the hub and spindle are designed for the alternate system

🔌 Function

Forms the grease barrier between the rotating hub and stationary spindle.

Common signs of wear or replacement:

• Grease leakage onto the rear of the hub or rotor

• Water-contaminated or milky grease

• Hardened, cracked or torn sealing lip

• Groove or rust on the spindle seal journal

• Seal is distorted during hub removal

🛠️ Installation & Safety

• Always replace a removed or damaged seal

• Press squarely using a driver that contacts the outer shell

• Lubricate the sealing lip before installing the hub

• Do not hammer directly on the lip or spring

• Check spindle journal condition before reassembly
