🔧 Product Description

Brand-new genuine Volvo Penta engine-oil cooler for selected D12/TAD12/TWD12 installations. The seven-row cooler core transfers heat from the lubricating oil to the engine coolant while keeping the two fluids separated. It is supplied as the cooler element; sealing ring, covers, gaskets, plugs and fasteners are separate unless expressly included.

🔌 Function

Removes excess heat from engine oil through the coolant circuit, preserving oil viscosity and protecting bearings, pistons and turbocharger lubrication.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Engine oil running hotter than normal
  • Oil appearing in the coolant reservoir
  • Coolant contamination or unexplained coolant loss
  • Low oil pressure after warm-up
  • External leakage at the cooler seals or housing

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Fit new O-rings, seals and gaskets throughout, lubricated lightly with clean oil so they seat rather than roll, and clean both mating faces first
  • After a cooler that has leaked internally, change the engine oil and filter and flush the oil side — water or coolant contaminated oil must not be left in the engine
  • Deal with the cause on the raw water side as well: clean the strainer and hoses, check the sea water pump impeller for missing vanes, and check the anodes where the installation has them
  • A cooler being reused or investigated can be pressure tested on the water side to confirm whether it is sound before it goes back on
  • Refill and bleed the oil and cooling systems, run the engine and then recheck every joint once hot, when the seals are at working temperature and pressure
