🔧 Product Description
A genuine Volvo Penta engine wiring harness with branch lengths, wire sizes, connector keying and protective sleeving matched to the specified ECU, sensors and actuators. The harness is a configured assembly rather than a universal loom, and its unused or additional branches depend on the engine option level.
🚤 Compatibility
Typically suits:
- Volvo Penta TAD734GE
- Volvo Penta TAD750GE
- Volvo Penta TAD751GE
- Volvo Penta TAD752GE
- Volvo Penta TAD753GE
- Volvo Penta TAD754GE
- Volvo Penta TAD765VE
- Volvo Penta TAD764VE
- Volvo Penta TAD763VE
- Volvo Penta TAD762VE
- Volvo Penta TAD761VE
- Engine Family: TAD
⚙️ Key Features
- Genuine Volvo Penta Engine Wiring Harness - part number 20886139
- OEM connector bodies and terminal positions
- Circuit-specific wire gauges and insulation
- Branch lengths match the original sensor and actuator locations
- Protective conduit, clips and breakout points control chafe and heat exposure
- Includes the grounding, shielding or twisted pairs required by sensitive signals
- Must match ECU generation, system voltage, emissions equipment and engine serial number
- Engine type: Application-specific Volvo Penta electrical/electronic control system
- 2 used per assembly
🔌 Function
The harness distributes battery power, grounds and low-level control signals between the ECU and engine components. It also preserves shielding, circuit pairing and connector orientation so the ECU receives accurate sensor information and can drive actuators reliably.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Intermittent faults change when the harness is moved
- Heat-damaged loom near exhaust components
- Corroded terminals or water entry into connectors
- Multiple unrelated sensor or actuator faults from a shared power/ground problem
🛠️ Service Notes
- Compare the new harness with the old one before fitting — check the connector types, the number of pins and the branch lengths, and lay it out alongside the old loom to confirm every branch reaches its component
- Disconnect the batteries before unplugging or fitting a harness, and support the loom as you work so its weight never hangs on a connector or a bulkhead grommet
- Route it along the original path and secure it with the original clips and ties, clear of hot exhaust surfaces, sharp edges and anything that moves; leave a service loop at each connector rather than pulling a branch tight
- Push every connector home until the lock latches and protect the joints with a marine dielectric grease — an intermittent electrical fault is far more often a partly seated or salt-corroded pin than a broken wire
- Renewing the harness is the right repair where insulation is chafed, brittle or oil-soaked, or where corrosion has tracked inside the connector bodies; patch repairs in a damp engine bay tend to fail again, and any single conductor that is repaired should be joined with tinned marine cable of the same gauge, a proper crimp and adhesive-lined heat-shrink
