🔧 Product Description
Genuine Volvo Penta Oil Return Pipe - Part Number: 21098797
A genuine Volvo Penta turbocharger lubricating-oil return pipe used on the D3-110I-D lubrication system. The formed metal pipe drains oil from the turbocharger bearing housing back to the engine crankcase after the oil has lubricated and cooled the turbocharger shaft bearings. Its bore, fall angle and flange alignment are critical: a restricted or distorted return pipe can force oil past the turbocharger seals even when the turbocharger itself is serviceable.
⚙️ Key Features
• Formed turbocharger oil-drain pipe for the D3-110I-D lubrication layout
• Large, unrestricted return bore allows gravity drainage from the turbocharger
• OEM flange and crankcase connection geometry prevents installation stress
• Rigid construction withstands turbocharger-area heat and vibration
• Must be installed with clean sealing faces and the correct gasket or sealing components

🚤 Compatibility
Commonly used on:
• D3-series inline-five turbocharged marine diesel
Typically suits:
• Engine models:
• D3-110I-D
• HP Range: 110 HP
• Engine Type: D3-series inline-five turbocharged marine diesel
• Year / Serial Range: Confirm the complete D3 product number and serial number; later D3 revisions can use different return-pipe geometry
🔌 Function
Returns lubricating oil from the turbocharger centre housing to the crankcase with minimal back-pressure. Free drainage prevents oil accumulation inside the turbocharger and protects the compressor and turbine seals.
Common signs of failure:
• Oil leakage at the turbocharger flange or crankcase connection
• Blue exhaust smoke caused by restricted turbo oil drainage
• Oil collecting in the compressor outlet or exhaust housing
• Cracked pipe near a formed bend or mounting point
• Kinked, carbon-restricted or incorrectly routed return passage
