A genuine Volvo Penta exhaust pipe kit for a D6 marine wet-exhaust installation. The factory assembly carries water-cooled exhaust away from the turbocharger while maintaining the designed outlet height, hose direction, sensor position and thermal protection. Volvo Penta produced several D6 riser and pipe geometries for inboard, Aquamatic and vessel-specific layouts. Engine product number, serial number, outlet orientation and exhaust-hose position must therefore be matched before ordering.

🔌 Function

The assembly routes turbocharger exhaust into the water-cooled exhaust hose, controls outlet geometry and protects nearby engine-room components from heat.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Cooling water or exhaust gas leaks from the riser
• Internal corrosion perforates the water jacket
• Exhaust backpressure rises because the passage is restricted
• V-clamp, flange or weld develops cracking
• Exhaust-temperature alarms occur from poor cooling-water flow

🛠️ Service Notes

• Support the pipework on its own mountings and let the flanges meet square before any fastener is tightened; pulling a misaligned joint together with the bolts cracks pipes and warps flanges
• Renew the gaskets and seals supplied and clean the flange faces of old gasket and carbon without scoring them
• Fit all the parts the kit provides rather than mixing new with old, and tighten evenly in the sequence and to the figures in the workshop manual for your engine
• Leave the clearance to hoses, wiring and structure that the installation calls for so the pipework can grow as it heats, and do not clamp a run rigidly at both ends unless it is designed that way
• Run the engine up to temperature, then re-check the joints for leaks and the fasteners for tightness once it has cooled
