A genuine Volvo Penta mounting kit for installing the external transom sacrificial-anode system on aluminium, steel and other electrically conductive hulls. The kit provides the insulated mounting, conductor and sealing arrangement required to connect the anode to the protected propulsion system without creating an uncontrolled hull leak. The associated Volvo installation drawing includes the shim, O-rings, rod, wiring harness, nuts and washers listed below. Dealer package contents should be compared with the installation drawing before work begins.

The kit mounts and electrically bonds the sacrificial anode while sealing and insulating the through-hull connection.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Anode does not show normal sacrificial wear
• Corrosion appears on the drive, hull or underwater hardware
• Bonding lead is open-circuit or corroded
• Water leaks around the mounting rod
• Insulating washers or O-rings are missing or damaged

🛠️ Service Notes

• Use all the parts supplied and fit them as a set; the kit is matched, and mixing new parts with reused fasteners or bushes defeats the purpose of buying it
• Renew self-locking nuts, lock washers, tab washers and thread-locking compound rather than reusing the originals
• Check what the kit mounts to before assembly — clean out the threads and look for corrosion, wear, elongated holes and cracks around the fixing points
• Leave the fixings finger-tight until everything is located and aligned, then tighten in the order and to the figures given in the workshop manual for your engine
• Recheck the fixings for tightness after the first period of running, since new mountings bed in and settle
