The rollers transmit torque through the flexible coupling while cushioning firing pulses, gear engagement shock and small alignment changes.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Rubber is cracked, flattened, oil-softened or missing
• Coupling knocks or rattles at idle
• Vibration increases during gear engagement
• Roller debris is found in the coupling housing
• Excessive coupling backlash develops

🛠️ Service Notes

• Fit the kit complete and keep the rollers as a matched set — mixing new rollers with old ones, or running them on a worn track or seat, loads them unevenly and shortens their life sharply
• Work clean: rolling elements are ruined by grit, so wash the parts in clean solvent, dry them without fibrous rag, and keep the assembly covered while you work
• Inspect the surfaces the rollers run on for scoring, pitting and flat spots before fitting; a marked track will destroy a new set
• Pre-lubricate the rollers on assembly with the grease or oil grade specified in the workshop manual for your engine rather than relying on the first run to reach them
• Turn the assembly through by hand once built up and feel for roughness, drag or tight spots before it goes back into service
