🔌 Function

The seals isolate the engine-coolant and raw-water circuits and prevent external leakage at the heat-exchanger end covers.

• Coolant or seawater leaks from an end cover
• Heat-exchanger element is being removed
• Pressure testing shows cross-leakage
• O-rings are flattened, swollen or cracked
• End-cover gasket has been disturbed

🛠️ Service Notes

• Confirm the kit is the one for your unit before starting, and lay the contents out against the parts you remove so nothing is left in the packet
• Replace every seal, gasket and wearing part the kit supplies, even where the old one still looks serviceable — mixing old and new sealing parts in one joint is the usual reason a repair leaks again
• Work clean and cap open pipes and ports; most repair kits serve fuel, oil, cooling or hydraulic components where dirt does the damage
• Check what the kit does not include — bores, sealing faces, threads and shafts — because a kit cannot compensate for a worn housing
• Assemble in the order and to the tightening figures given in the workshop manual for your engine, then test for leaks and correct operation before returning the engine to service
