A genuine raw-water-cooled shell-and-tube cooler used to remove heat from the fuel or power-steering oil circuit on selected Volvo Penta KAD marine engines. The 21710298 cooler replaces earlier number 858541.

🔌 Function
Transfers heat from the fuel or steering-oil circuit into the engine cooling-water flow without mixing the two fluids.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Water or coolant found in the fuel or steering oil
- Oil traces showing in the cooling water side
- Oil circuit running hotter than normal
- Weeping at the end caps or a wet, salt-crusted body
- Tube stack found corroded or pinholed on strip-down
🛠️ Service Notes
- Renew the end-cap O-rings and gaskets when the cooler is opened or fitted
- Pressure-test the existing cooler before condemning it - a weep at the end cap is often the seal, not the stack
