• Assemble loose first, check the alignment of the component it supports, then tighten evenly and diagonally to the figures in the workshop manual for your engine
• Where the plate carries a gasket, seal or shim, renew it and keep the original order and orientation
• Recheck the fasteners after the first running period — mounting hardware is the first thing to move once the assembly has been through heat and vibration
