• Inspect the shaft or bore each seal has to run on — a scored or corroded running surface will cut a new seal straight away
• Lightly lubricate O-rings and lip seals with clean fluid of the type the system carries, and fit lip seals square with the lip facing the same way as the original
• Assemble and tighten in the order and to the figures in the workshop manual for your engine, then pressure-test or run up and check for weeps
