🔌 Function
The anode corrodes preferentially to protect the gear housing and other submerged aluminium components, while the adjustable fin helps offset propeller steering torque.
Common signs replacement is required:
• Anode has lost approximately half its original material
• Surface is deeply pitted or crumbling
• Steering torque increases because the tab has moved
• Mounting bolt is loose or corroded
• Anode is painted or electrically isolated from the gearcase
