🔌 Function
The rotating vanes create suction at the gearcase water intakes and pressure on the outlet side of the pump.
Common signs of impeller wear:
• Weak or intermittent tell-tale stream
• Engine overheats at idle or low speed
• Missing, cracked or permanently curved vanes
• Rubber fragments inside the pump housing
• Vanes separate from the hub
• Impeller hub slips on the driveshaft
Installation considerations:
• Inspect the housing, cup and wear plate
• Remove broken vane fragments from the cooling system
• Replace hardened grommets and seals
• Lubricate the impeller with an approved assembly lubricant
• Turn the driveshaft in its normal operating direction while lowering the housing
• Confirm water flow immediately after starting
