Aftermarket BRP-Compatible Starter Motor - Replaces Part Number: 0386430

Brand-new 12-volt marine starter motor designed to replace the original Johnson, Evinrude and OMC starter used on selected 8HP, 9.9HP, 10HP and 15HP two-cylinder outboards. This permanent-magnet direct-drive starter uses a 10-tooth pinion and provides the cranking torque required to turn the flywheel during electric starting.

Match the original starter number, mounting points, electrical terminal position and pinion arrangement before installation. Rotation descriptions can differ depending on whether the unit is viewed from the drive end or commutator end, making the OEM reference the safest fitment identifier.

🔌 Function

The starter motor converts battery power into mechanical rotation. When the start circuit is energised, the pinion engages the flywheel ring gear and cranks the engine until combustion begins.

Common signs of failure:

• Starter does not operate when the start switch is engaged

• Starter turns slowly despite a charged and tested battery

• Clicking from the solenoid without the flywheel cranking

• Pinion spins without consistently engaging the flywheel

• Grinding, squealing or abnormal bearing noise
