Genuine BRP Evinrude Johnson Aluminium Gearcase Anode and Insert Assembly - Part Number: 0436745

A genuine BRP sacrificial aluminium anode and insert assembly for selected Evinrude and Johnson outboard gearcases.

🚤 Compatibility

Commonly used on selected:

• V4 outboard gearcases from approximately 1982 onward

• V6 outboard gearcases from approximately 1982 onward

• Evinrude E-TEC 40HP-300HP gearcases from approximately 2004 onward

• Standard- and counter-rotation gearcases where 0436745 is specified

• Selected 40HP-300HP two-stroke lower units

Important fitment note:

• Confirm whether the housing uses a self-tapping screw or threaded bolt.

• The mounting fastener is not normally supplied with the anode.

• Anodes must have clean metal-to-metal contact with the gearcase.

• Do not paint the anode or its contact surface.

🔌 Function

The anode acts as the most electrically active metal in the underwater assembly and sacrifices itself to reduce corrosion of more valuable components.

Common signs replacement is required:

• More than approximately half the anode has eroded

• Anode is deeply pitted

• Mounting insert is loose

• Anode is painted or insulated

• Gearcase corrosion appears despite the anode

• Incorrect anode material has been installed

• Fastener is corroded or cannot maintain contact

Installation considerations:

• Remove paint and corrosion from the contact surface

• Use the correct mounting screw or bolt

• Do not apply insulating sealant between the anode and housing

• Confirm electrical continuity

• Inspect all other engine and transom anodes

• Select anode material appropriate to the operating water

• Replace rather than cleaning a heavily depleted anode

📦 Condition

• Genuine BRP Evinrude Johnson OEM part

• Brand new sacrificial anode

• Mounting fastener included only when supplied in the OEM package

• Supplied in genuine or equivalent protective packaging
