When the ignition key is pushed during cranking, the solenoid delivers additional fuel directly to the intake system. This produces the rich fuel mixture required for reliable cold starting.

🔌 Function

The solenoid opens when supplied with 12 volts from the push-to-prime ignition circuit. Pressurised fuel then flows through the primer hoses to the intake manifold or carburettor passages.
