🔧 Product Description

Genuine BRP Johnson Evinrude Starter Bus Bar and Insulating Tube Assembly - Part Number: 0583995

A genuine OMC / BRP high-current bus bar and insulating tube assembly used between the starter solenoid and starter motor on selected electric-start outboards.

The formed conductor carries starter current while the insulating sleeve reduces the risk of accidental contact or short-circuiting within the powerhead electrical compartment.

⚙️ Key Features

• Genuine OMC / BRP starter-circuit component

• Correct part number 0583995

• Formed high-current copper bus bar

• Supplied with insulating tubing where fitted

• Connects the starter solenoid output to the starter terminal

• Used across multiple Johnson and Evinrude engine families

• Approximately 1993-2005 electrical-system diagrams where 0583995 is specified

• Electrical System: 12V DC

• Engine Type: Johnson / Evinrude two-stroke outboard

• Fitment Requirement: Confirm starter and solenoid terminal spacing

🔌 Function

The bus bar provides a low-resistance electrical path from the starter solenoid to the starter motor. When the solenoid closes, battery current flows through the bar to crank the engine.

Common signs of failure:

• Starter cranks slowly despite a good battery

• Bus bar becomes hot during cranking

• Green corrosion forms around the conductor or terminals

• Insulating tube is split or missing

• Starter operation is intermittent because of loose terminal contact

📦 Condition

• Genuine used part

• Removed from running engine where applicable

• In good working condition unless otherwise stated

• Clean and tighten all high-current terminals during installation
