Genuine BRP Evinrude Neutral-Position Switch and Terminal Assembly - Part Number: 0587356
A genuine BRP neutral-position switch for selected Evinrude E-TEC throttle and shift-linkage systems.
The switch detects whether the shift mechanism is in neutral and provides the corresponding electrical signal to the starting or engine-management circuit. Part number 0587356 supersedes neutral switch 0586780 and is supplied as the later switch-and-terminal assembly.

🔌 Function
The switch closes or opens according to the position of the shift linkage. The starting or engine-management system uses this signal to confirm neutral position and prevent unsafe starting while a gear is engaged.

- Starter does not operate while the engine is in neutral
- Engine starts while the control is in gear
- Neutral indication is incorrect
