🔧 Product Description

Genuine BRP Evinrude HPF Pro High-Performance Gearcase Lubricant - Five US Gallons - Part Number: 0778879

Genuine BRP HPF Pro high-performance marine gearcase lubricant supplied in a five-US-gallon bulk container.

Five US gallons is approximately 18.93 litres.

HPF Pro is formulated for heavily loaded Evinrude and Johnson outboard lower units and is the specified factory-fill gear lubricant for many Evinrude E-TEC gearcases.

Its viscosity, anti-foam additives, friction modifiers and water-handling properties are designed for severe marine operation.

Lubricant-substitution warning:

• HPF Pro is a proprietary marine gearcase lubricant and does not have a simple automotive GL-rating interchange.

• Do not substitute automotive axle oil solely because its viscosity appears similar.

• Use another marine gear lubricant only when the exact engine or gearcase service information permits it.

🚤 Compatibility

Specified or recommended for selected:

• Evinrude E-TEC outboard gearcases

• Evinrude E-TEC G1 lower units

• Johnson and Evinrude high-output two-stroke gearcases

• Standard-rotation lower units

• Counter-rotation lower units

• V4, V6 and high-performance outboard gearcases where HPF Pro is specified

• Marine service workshops performing regular lower-unit oil changes

Important use note:

• Confirm lubricant specification in the operator's or service manual.

• Some specialised gearcases may require a different lubricant or servicing procedure.

• Water contamination requires repair of the leaking seals; changing the oil alone is not a permanent correction.

🔌 Function

The lubricant forms a protective film between the forward, reverse and pinion gears, bearings, clutch dog and propeller shaft.

Benefits include:

• Reduced gear and bearing wear

• Improved protection under high propeller load

• Resistance to lubricant foaming

• Stable operation at marine gearcase temperatures

• Corrosion protection

• Ability to maintain lubrication when minor moisture is present

Common signs gearcase service is required:

• Oil is milky

• Metal particles are present

• Lubricant smells burnt

• Drain-plug magnet carries excessive debris

• Gearcase whines or growls

• Propeller shaft has movement

• Oil level drops between services

• Pressure or vacuum test fails

Recommended handling:

• Use a clean lower-unit filling pump

• Fill from the lower drain opening

• Continue filling until lubricant exits the upper vent

• Install new drain and vent screw seals

• Inspect the magnetic plug

• Pressure- and vacuum-test a leaking gearcase

• Keep the bulk container sealed and free from water

• Do not return drained lubricant to the container

• Store upright in a clean, dry service area
