This is a genuine Volvo Penta engine gasket from the Engine system group, used to form a sealed joint between mating engine components and prevent leakage of oil, coolant, air or combustion gases. It is the current replacement for the earlier gasket 865341 and its predecessors in the same line. Fitment covers the TD, TID and TWD 610, 630 and 640 series marine and industrial diesel engines.

🔌 Function

The gasket seals the joint between two engine components, compressing on assembly to fill surface irregularities and maintain a pressure-tight barrier. This keeps oil, coolant, air or exhaust gas contained within its intended passage.

• Visible oil, coolant or exhaust leakage at the joint face
• Loss of coolant or oil level with no other identifiable source
• Hardened, cracked, flattened or crushed gasket material found on inspection
• Loss of sealing pressure or audible gas leakage from the mating surface
• Fluid contamination such as coolant in oil caused by internal gasket breakdown

🛠️ Service Notes

• Fit a new gasket every time the joint is disturbed — a gasket takes a permanent set once it has been torqued and will not seal reliably a second time
• Scrape both faces back to clean bare metal, keeping the blade at a shallow angle so it lifts the old material without gouging the surface, and use a plastic scraper on aluminium castings
• Check the faces for flatness, cracks and corrosion pitting, and make sure no old gasket, carbon or hardened sealant is left in the corners or around the bolt holes
• Fit the gasket dry unless the workshop manual for your engine calls for a sealant, and then only the type it specifies — surplus sealant squeezes out into oil, coolant and fuel passages
• Draw the fasteners down progressively in the sequence and to the torque given in the manual for your engine, and recheck after the first heat cycle where the manual asks for it
