🔧 Product Description

A genuine Volvo splined drive sleeve used in selected articulated-hauler transmission and auxiliary-pump drive assemblies. The hardened sleeve couples two splined shafts while allowing correct alignment and controlled service replacement. The sleeve has an approximate 19.13mm internal bore and a listed mass of approximately 0.375 kg.

🚤 Compatibility

Typically suits:

  • Volvo Penta TAD1170-72VE
  • Engine Family: TAD
  • Year Range: Approximately 1990s – 2000s

⚙️ Key Features

  • Genuine Volvo Penta / Volvo splined drive sleeve
  • Correct Volvo part number 11031017
  • Hardened internal splines for transmission or pump drive
  • Approximate 19.13mm internal bore
  • Engine type: Volvo heavy-equipment transmission / hydraulic drive component

🔌 Function

The sleeve provides a hard, dimensionally accurate interface between two components, holding correct spacing and alignment while absorbing wear that would otherwise damage the parent part. Depending on its position it can also form a running or sealing surface for a shaft, bolt or seal.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Visible scoring, grooving or ridging on the running or contact surface
  • Excessive play, looseness or movement in the assembly it locates
  • Corrosion, pitting or scale build-up on the sleeve surface
  • Oil or coolant seepage where the sleeve forms a sealing surface
  • Ovality or measurable wear outside specification when checked against service limits

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Check which way round the sleeve goes before the old one comes out — sleeves are rarely symmetrical, and one end is usually chamfered or stepped to lead into the bore
  • Clean and inspect the bore it seats in; a sleeve takes its final shape and fit from that bore, so corrosion, scoring or an oval bore will spoil a new part
  • Draw or press the sleeve in square with the correct tool rather than driving it in — a sleeve started crooked will nip, and the material displaced by a hammer blow never fully recovers
  • Renew any O-ring, seal or gasket that seats against the sleeve while it is out, and lubricate on assembly as the manual for your engine specifies
  • Confirm the sleeve is fully home to the depth or flush condition the workshop manual gives before reassembling anything on top of it
