🔌 Function

The oil trap separates entrained oil from crankcase ventilation gases so that oil is returned to the engine rather than carried into the intake or vented overboard. This keeps the induction side cleaner and helps maintain correct crankcase pressure.

• Oil accumulating in the intake ducting, charge air cooler or air filter housing
• Excessive crankcase pressure, blow-by from the dipstick tube or oil filler
• Visible oil misting or seepage around the trap body and hose connections

🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew the trap or its filter insert at the interval in your engine's maintenance schedule, and whenever the crankcase ventilation system has been running blocked
• Check the whole ventilation route while access is open — the hose from the valve cover, the oil drain or return back to the crankcase, and the outlet to the intake or breather
• Fit new gaskets, O-rings and hose clips on every joint disturbed, and make sure the drain path is clear so separated oil returns instead of pooling in the trap
• Route the hoses without kinks or sagging loops where oil and condensate can collect, and support them clear of hot surfaces
• Run the engine afterwards and check the trap and its joints for leaks, and that the crankcase is neither pressurising nor being pulled hard into vacuum
