🔌 Function

The leak-off line collects fuel that bleeds past the injector needles and returns it to the fuel return circuit. This maintains stable injector operation and prevents pressure build-up and air accumulation in the fuel system.

🛠️ Service Notes

• Fit new sealing washers or rings at every union the line connects to and never reuse the old ones; once a washer has been crushed it will not reseal
• Keep the line and the unions scrupulously clean and cap the openings while it is off — debris that enters through the return side does the same damage to injectors and pumps as debris on the supply side
• Tighten the union or banjo bolts to the figure in the workshop manual for your engine; they thread into injector and pump bodies and are easily stripped or distorted
• Route the line as it was, without kinks, tight bends or tension, and support it clear of hot and moving parts so it cannot chafe or fatigue
• Bleed and prime the fuel system as the manual describes, then run the engine and check every joint for weeping and for air being drawn in
