🔌 Function

The plug seals a machined opening, threaded port or unused passage in an engine casting or housing so the circuit behind it remains pressure-tight. It prevents loss of oil, coolant or fuel and keeps dirt and moisture out of the passage.

• Where the plug closes an oil, fuel or coolant passage, run the engine up to temperature afterwards and check the joint under pressure before signing the job off
• Keep removed plugs paired with the holes they came out of during a strip-down — plugs of very similar appearance often differ in thread, reach or sealing type
