🔧 Product Description
A genuine Volvo Penta diode service kit for the charging-system alternator used on selected earlier marine petrol and diesel engines. The rectifier diodes convert the alternator stator output from alternating current to direct current for battery charging and vessel electrical supply. Volvo Penta services the part as a complete diode assembly rather than as separately replaceable individual semiconductor elements. Alternator make, output, voltage and internal rectifier arrangement must be identified before installation.

🔌 Function
The diode pack rectifies the alternator's three-phase AC output into DC and prevents battery current from feeding backward into the stator when the engine is stopped.

- Battery does not charge or charging output is low
- Alternator output contains excessive AC ripple
- Battery discharges through the alternator while the engine is stopped
- Charging warning lamp remains illuminated
- One or more diodes test open or shorted during alternator bench testing
🛠️ Service Notes
- Confirm the alternator make, output, voltage and internal rectifier arrangement before fitting — this kit is not interchangeable across different Volvo Penta alternator types
- Diagnose what caused the original diodes to fail (a shorted battery or wiring fault will take out a new pack the same way) before fitting the replacement, and isolate the battery first
