🔌 Function

The turbocharger uses exhaust-gas flow to drive the turbine and compressor wheels. The compressor supplies pressurised air through the intercooler, enabling the 6LPA engine to produce its rated 315HP output and strong marine-load torque.

Common signs of failure:

• Reduced boost and poor vessel acceleration

• Engine cannot reach its rated 3800rpm

• Excessive black smoke under load

• Blue smoke or increased lubricating-oil consumption
