🔌 Function
The front balancer shaft carries an offset counterweight that produces an opposing vibration force as it rotates.
Working with the rear shaft, it reduces the second-order vibration naturally produced by an inline four-cylinder engine.
Common signs of wear or damage:
• Excessive engine vibration
• Rumbling or knocking noise
• Worn shaft journals
• Scored bearing surfaces
• Bent shaft
• Excessive end float
• Damaged driven pulley
• Balancer belt tracks incorrectly
• Metal particles in the oil
• Oil leakage around the balancer cover
Recommended checks before installation:
• Inspect every journal
• Measure shaft runout
• Check end float
• Inspect the pulley keyway and mounting surfaces
• Check the balancer belt and tensioner
• Inspect the case and bearing surfaces
• Replace associated seals and O-rings
• Align all balancer timing marks
• Rotate the engine manually before starting
📦 Condition
• Genuine Honda Marine used part
• Pre-owned internal engine component
