🔌 Function

The distributor rotor transfers high-voltage ignition energy from the centre terminal of the distributor cap to each cylinder terminal in firing order. Correct rotor phasing and low electrical resistance are required for a strong, accurately timed spark.

Common signs of failure / service requirement:

• Misfire under load or at higher engine speed

• Hard starting or intermittent no-start

• Burnt, eroded or carbon-tracked rotor tip

• Weak or inconsistent spark at several cylinders

• Moisture damage, cracking or excessive distributor-shaft play
