• Seat the ball with a soft drift and light taps only where the workshop manual for your engine actually calls for it to be seated, and never drive it in harder than the manual says
• Check the spring, guide or retainer that works with the ball is present, undamaged and fitted in the right order, then check the valve holds before returning the system to service
