A genuine Volvo Penta high-tensile connecting-rod bolt used to clamp the connecting-rod cap around the crankshaft big-end journal on a wide range of 30-, 31-, 40-, 41-, 42-, 43-, 44- and 300-series marine diesel engines. Each connecting rod uses two bolts. On the common six-cylinder applications, twelve bolts are required for a complete engine. Connecting-rod bolts are highly stressed engine fasteners and should be replaced as a matched set whenever the workshop procedure requires new hardware.
