This is a genuine Volvo Penta spacer sleeve for the lubricating and oil system, supplied in the late-type configuration. It sets and maintains the correct standoff and clamping length within the oil system assembly so mating components are held at their designed spacing. Because both early and late types exist for these engines, confirm the late-type version is correct for your build before ordering.
