🔌 Function

The lock plate mechanically retains a fastener or component on the coolant pump so it cannot loosen under engine vibration and thermal cycling. It helps maintain correct pump assembly clamping and alignment in service.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Cracked, bent or distorted plate found during water pump service
• Fastener working loose or backing off, indicating the locking tab has lost tension
• Corrosion or pitting from prolonged coolant exposure
• Wear or deformation of the locking tabs after previous removal and refitting
• Coolant weeping at the pump joint caused by loss of correct clamping

🛠️ Service Notes

• Use together with companion lock plate 1545359 and inspect the water-pump shaft, gear, spindle and bearings.
• Do not reuse a plate that has already been flattened or repeatedly re-bent.
