🔧 Product Description

This genuine Volvo Penta connecting pipe is a formed OEM fluid-transfer component used in the cooling-system connecting pipe. It is manufactured to the original Volvo Penta dimensions and interface requirements so the relevant fluid is transferred without leakage, restriction or vibration damage. In service, it connects adjacent cooling-system sections and carries coolant through the specified rear-engine route. Fitment is controlled by the exact engine or product configuration and serialised parts list; confirm OEM number 1556081 against the installed assembly before ordering.

🔌 Function

The connecting pipe carries engine coolant between cooling system components, forming part of the sealed circuit that transfers heat away from the engine. It maintains correct coolant flow and pressure between the connected housings or hoses.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Coolant seepage or drips at the pipe joints and sealing faces
  • External corrosion, pitting or perforation of the pipe wall
  • Scale or debris build-up restricting coolant flow and causing higher operating temperatures
  • Loss of coolant with repeated top-ups and no other identifiable leak source
  • Cracking or distortion at the pipe ends preventing a proper seal

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Renew the O-rings, seals, gaskets and clamps that seal the pipe rather than reusing them; most leaks after a pipe change come from a reused seal
  • Offer the pipe up and get both ends aligned before tightening anything — pulling a rigid pipe into place strains the connections and cracks flanges and fittings
  • Check the bore for scale, corrosion and debris and clean the mating faces on both components before assembly
  • Refit every support bracket, clip and piece of insulation; an unsupported pipe fatigues at its joints from engine vibration
  • Refill and vent the system, then leak check the joints and check them again after the first run up to working temperature
