🔧 Product Description

This genuine Volvo Penta adjusting screw is a precision valve-train service component used in the engine-control linkage adjustment. It is manufactured to the original Volvo Penta dimensions and interface requirements so the valve train retains its specified geometry, clearance and load path. In service, it provides the threaded adjustment point used to set the matched engine-control linkage. Fitment is controlled by the exact engine or product configuration and serialised parts list; confirm OEM number 1556438 against the installed assembly before ordering.

🚤 Compatibility

Typically suits:

  • Volvo Penta DH10A
  • Engine Family: DH

⚙️ Key Features

  • OEM Volvo Penta part number 1556438
  • System group: Engine Controls
  • Net weight: 0.008 kg
  • Fits DH10A series diesel engines
  • Supplied as an individual adjusting screw

🔌 Function

The adjusting screw sets and retains a precise position or clearance within the engine control linkage, allowing the assembly to be calibrated during setup or service. Once correctly set, it holds that adjustment against normal operating vibration.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Control settings drift out of adjustment during operation
  • Damaged or rounded drive recess preventing proper adjustment
  • Stripped or seized threads making the screw impossible to turn or retighten
  • Corrosion or thread wear causing the screw to loosen under vibration
  • Inability to reach the specified setting at either end of the adjustment range

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Note and record the existing setting before disturbing anything, so you have a reference to return to if needed
  • Release the lock nut fully before turning the screw, then reset the lock nut and re-check the setting — tightening the lock nut usually moves the adjustment
  • Set to the clearance or position given in the workshop manual for your engine using the correct feeler or gauge; do not judge the setting by feel
  • Inspect the tip and the threads and renew any screw with a worn, mushroomed or picked-up tip, because a worn tip makes the setting drift in service
  • Never use an adjusting screw to force a component into position, and carry out a hot re-check after running if the manual for your engine calls for one
